Memorialisation

Sculpture

However you and your family plan to say your farewells, creating a memorial is an important part of the journey through grief. Within our gardens, you’ll find a number of places that give you a focal point for recollection and commemoration.

For 160 years, we have been helping families create memorials for their loved ones. We consult closely with you to consider your family’s religious, cultural or traditional background. Then we help you choose the perfect memorialisation so that you, your children, grandchildren and every generation will always be able to visit, in a uniquely beautiful setting.

Options for memorialisation include above ground burial in our beautiful garden crypts, and interment of cremated remains at the Peace Haven Mausoleum or in the rose gardens or lawn.

Garden Crypts

Garden Crypts

Garden Crypts provide for permanent above-ground interment which for many people has become the preferred alternative to in-ground burial. The award winning crypts are designed by prominent Melbourne architects, McIntyre Partnership, to the highest standard. They are constructed from the very best local and imported materials, and faced with polished granite. Located in a genuine Australian bush garden on gently sloping ground, the crypts are set in tranquil courtyards near the northern boundary of the cemetery, adjacent to the High Street pedestrian gate. They provide an ideal place for reflection in a peaceful setting.

Peace Haven Mausoleum

Peace Haven Mausoleum

The Peace Haven Mausoleum was developed by the Boroondara Cemetery Trust in 2001 to cater for the needs of those who prefer burial or interment within a building. Located among the beautiful rose gardens, centrally located in Kew, the Peace Haven Mausoleum will impress with its welcoming atmosphere and peaceful surroundings.

Niches are still available in the Peace Haven Mausoleum for the interment of cremated remains, and also on the northern wall of the Peace Haven Mausoleum. Unfortunately, there are no more places available for burial within the Mausoleum.

The Peace Haven mausoleum was designed by one of North America’s foremost mausoleum companies and constructed from fine local materials. It is a reverent, beautiful and tranquil place where people may pray for their deceased loved ones and where the living will find consolation in their faith.
